about
A cowboy song produced by Casey Foubert.
This is a rockabilly dream pop tune about how heartbreak is like a cloudbreak above the desert.
This song was originally titled "Love and Maintenance." It plays with the idea that for love to grow it must be given the freedom to change. To love is to embrace an evolving growing life. This includes allowing ourselves the space we need to grow, and just like plants that lose their flowers, fruits and leaves along the way we can embrace heartbreak as the process of letting our love die, so we can grow a new more more beautiful heart.
Sometimes love asks us to grow apart, so that each of our hearts can grow, and if we let them, our tears can be the rain that brings our love back to life again.
lyrics
Let me live
Let me play
Let me go
Let me leave
But if I stay
Let me grow
Our bean vines are intertwined
Your garden flowed to mine
Raised beds from the nursery
They don’t get dirty
Let me live
Let me play
Let me go
Let me leave
But if I stay
Let me grow
My unopened box of seeds
Your plot authored by weeds
Our garden would rise again
If all our tears were rain
Let me live
Let me play
Let me go
Let me leave
But if I stay
Let me grow
Till our ground has been broken
The sunshine can’t be seen
Let’s crack and remain open
Sun light between
Our cloven love
Our cracks contain
The seedlings of
Our fun
Let me live
Let me play
Let me go
Let me leave
But if I stay
Let me grow
Let me live
Let me play
Let me go
Let me leave
But if I stay
Let me grow
Let me live
Let me play
Let me go
Let me leave
But if I stay
Let me grow
