This song has some guitar playing I am really happy with - I promised myself to practice every day, except when I am away from home, which is rare. I have kept up a three and a half year streak of practicing and this song reaped the benefits with some really satisfying guitar parts, there is also some nicely detailed production instrumentation.
Like some of the other tracks on this album, this song also focuses on hope. Hope alone is what carries me through the valleys of loneliness and disillusionment.
“Be Your Own God” is a song of empowerment and resolve not to give up power to others, but be your own Father with a capital F.
"Hope a little longer, wait, and it will pass."
"You can be your own Father,
you can be your own boss,
you can be your own savior,
you can be your own God"
lyrics
BE YOUR OWN GOD - from "Truth and Fun" by Eight Two
I’ll be my own father
I’ll give my prayers an answer
Yeah...
We can be our father
Father,
I can be you.
Child,
I will always stand by you.
You can be your own father
You can be your own boss
You can be your own saviour
You can be your own God
Yeah...
Hope a little longer
Wait and it will pass
Be patient, be patient
Hope a little longer
Wait and it will pass
Yeah...
We can be our father
Father,
I can be you.
Child,
I will always stand by you.
You can be your own father
You can be your own boss
You can be your own saviour
You can be your own God
You can be your own father
You can be your own boss
You can be your own saviour
You can be your own God
Be your own father!
Be your own boss!
Be your own saviour!
Be your own God!
You can be your own father
You can be your own boss
You can be your own saviour
You can be your own God
